Info for Applicants
With the ongoing revisions of the Ordinance on Doctoral Studies at ETH Zurich, we are providing separate information depending on the advancement of an individual's doctorate.
Current doctoral students
You are already registered as a doctoral student at ETH and your professor is part of MaP (list of members). You are interested to join the MaP Doctoral School and benefit from its offers. Please continue reading the relevant paragraph below depending on the advancement of your doctorate.
Note: At D-MATL, by default, all doctoral students enter / are part of the MaP Doctoral School. Please use the form for D-MATL doctoral students to specify your details or opt-out from the School.
Novice (first year doctoral students)
You are in your first year of doctoral studies. By joining the MaP Doctoral School you benefit from all the School has to offer. You continue your regular doctoral studies according to the current Ordinance on Doctoral Studies and further detailed regulations applicable in your home department. When signing up for the School, you join one of the thematic tracks. You are encouraged to participate in activities of your track while still keeping all your freedom to select and assemble the components as you already do now. The only additional requirement is to contribute scientifically (talk or poster) to one MaP Graduate Symposium, counting as of the 2021 edition.

Advanced (second year + doctoral students)
You have already passed your first year of doctoral studies. By joining the MaP Doctoral School you benefit from all the School has to offer. You continue your regular doctoral studies according to the current Ordinance on Doctoral Studies and further detailed regulations applicable in your home department. When signing up for the School, you are encouraged to join one of the activities targeted to advanced doctoral students. However, you keep all your freedom to select and assemble the components as you already do now. The only additional requirement is to participate in one MaP Graduate Symposium, counting as of the 2021 edition.
